Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This paper recommends research regarding environmental information management. The approach taken is (1) identify the key components of environmental management systems, (2) emphasize those elements that pertain to environmental data and information management, and (3) identify current and future research needs. The following two approaches to environmental management systems are identified and discussed: (1) An environmental management system compliant with the International Standards Organization standard 14001; and (2) The concept for an Environmental Information Management and Decision Support System developed under National Cooperative Highway Research Program Project 25-23.
