Title: SUGGESTED APPROACH TO URBAN GOODS MOVEMENT AND TRANSPORTATION PLANNING
Accession Number: 00149185

Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: The paper addresses the research presently being undertaken at the Chicago Area Transportation Study (CATS). The study attempts to fill the gap in transportation study methods through the development and testing of a model focusing directly on the volume and patterns of intraurban goods flow and resultant vehicle traffic. The commodity based model currently under development at CATS begins with the land use and spatial-location characteristics of subareas of the region. The model derives from the relevant zonal attributes, the commodity volumes produced and consumed by the activities in the particular zone.
