Accession Number: 00962803
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: With the new 8-hr ozone and fine particulate matter standards, North Carolina faced a tripling of its nonattainment areas. In response, the North Carolina Department of Transportation, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, North Carolina State University's Center for Transportation and the Environment, the Federal Highway Administration, and the Environmental Protection Agency cosponsored the North Carolina Air Quality Roundtable. The Roundtable's ongoing workshops convene representatives of 30 stakeholder groups to cooperate on improving state air quality. Stakeholders have identified three areas for emphasis: educating decision makers and the media, educating the public, and assuring agencies' technical capacity.
