Availability: National Technical Information Service 5301 Shawnee Road Abstract: This Innovations Deserving Exploratory Analysis (IDEA) report discusses the progress to date on the development of an automated robotic system that will enable safe and cost effective underwater inspection of bridge substructures. Project activities were divided between the design and fabrication of a prototype robotic system, and an evaluation of the performance of an underwater video camera and light system in turbid water conditions.
