Accession Number: 00713800
Record Type: Component
Availability: Jerry M. Faris 4106 Tralee Road Abstract: This paper, which appears in a compendium of conference papers, defines the role of general consultant from state and contractor perspectives. From the government viewpoint, a general consultant performs a variety of tasks or develops multiple, often unrelated, products under a single contract--an extension, so to speak, of existing government staff. From the contractor's viewpoint, the general consultant assignment can be challenging and rewarding because the opportunity is available to help with a variety of problems and issues. This paper discusses selection of a general consultant, management/communications, task work orders, type of worksite, conflicts of interest, and other issues pertaining to the agency/consultant relationship.
Supplemental Notes: Additional support was provided by the Puget Sound Regional Council and King County, Washington.
