Abstract:

In June and September 1990, the Transportation Research Board conducted a series of workshops on methods of forecasting civil aviation activity. The purpose was to examine methods and practices used by FAA and others and to identify ways in which the reliability and utility of forecast products could be improved. This appendix to the workshop reports discusses Civil Reserve Air Fleet (CRAF) impacts on commercial aviation in terms of available seat miles for passenger aircraft and available ton miles for cargo carriers for calendar year 1989. Also discussed are CRAF impacts on new aircraft deliveries and on civil air commerce flight crews.
