Title:

CURRENT REFINING PRACTICES FOR PAVING ASPHALT PRODUCTION

Accession Number:

00604445

Record Type:

Monograph

Abstract:

This is the report of the first of a 2-part study: Survey of Available Asphalts and Current Refinery Practices for Asphalt Production. The first phase surveyed the current state of the art of paving asphalt production in the United States and Canadian petroleum refining industries. Information is provided about the production, sources, distribution and marketing of paving asphalt in the United States and Canada. The information on the main features of the industry are utilized in the selection of the paving asphalts incorporated in the SHRP (Strategic Highway Research Program) Materials Reference Library at the University of Texas. The second part of the study will examine how refining methods and crude oil sources may affect the physical and compositional characteristics of paving asphalt.
