Abstract:

The author presented The Naisbitt Group forecasting process which involves monitoring local events through newspapers, trade journals, and other sources, and then placing these events into a larger social context to forecast trends that are likely to affect companies. She explained their research methodology of thematic content analysis and examined eight questions that should be asked in evaluating information received via print and broadcast media. She pointed out two trends that will strongly influence commercial aviation during the 1990s--consumer protection and time and convenience.
