Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: The purpose of this workshop was to examine techniques and practices currently used by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and other aviation forecasters and to explore other methodological approaches. The workshop focused on the forecasting process and ways to improve the reliability and utility of forecasting results. The workshop consisted of three sessions. Session I dealt with present methodologies used by the FAA and the aviation industry. Session II considered other types of forecasting and sought to identify trends and factors that could have important effects on the future development of aviation. Session III was devoted to a discussion of major issues and problems in forecasting, followed by a summary and conclusions.
