Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: The U.S. seaport industry is sensitive to the ways economic forces are reflected in government policy at all levels. Possible changes in exports and the balance of trade, demographic shifts, and implications of government policy all present challenges to the seaport industry. Planning to meet the challenges in both the short and the long term is discussed, and the ways the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles, California, are facing these challenges are described in detail.
