Accession Number: 01690617
Record Type: Monograph
Record URL: Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: To capture both the gaps in scientific knowledge and the practical problems of implementation, this circular is organized around seven case areas covering several topics to help identify research needs for arterials and public health. The case areas include: linking public health metrics to arterial roads; local Vision Zero policies and arterial roads as a public health hazard; proximity to arterial roads as a public health concern; reinventing, retrofitting, and remodeling urban arterials; land use and arterials in an ever changing exurban context; changing technology, arterials, and health; and tools, models, research, and analysis. Each case introduction provides background information to set the stage for the research questions raised around each case. Associated with each case, a series of research questions, issues, and concerns are identified. In addition to the seven case areas, additional chapters are devoted to the viewpoints and philosophies of the TRB Task Force on Arterials and Public Health members; review of health topics in TRB research needs statements; and conclusions and implications for research.
