Abstract:

This presentation will provide Departments of Transportation (DOT) stormwater practitioners information on alternative compliance approaches for implementing stormwater management to comply with state and federal water quality requirements. Alternative compliance is a valuable tool for DOTs and can provide the greatest water quality benefit at least cost compared to traditional stormwater practices. This paper describes approaches, equivalence of traditional stormwater compliance, and provides overview and lessons learned of alternative compliance implemented by other DOTs.
