Record Type: Monograph
Record URL: Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This report provides background information about Non-Emergency Medical Transportation (NEMT) and describes the different models available to states for providing NEMT for Medicaid beneficiaries. The handbook also discusses why human services transportation and public transportation providers encourage coordination of NEMT with other transportation services. The research approach for this project included: a review of literature, regulations, and prior research; a state survey; and case studies. NEMT, human services transportation, and public transportation have common desired outcomes: to improve health outcomes, to contribute to a better quality of service for customers, and to maximize transportation services delivered within available resources. This handbook identifies opportunities and suggests strategies to coordinate these transportation programs to contribute to the common desired outcomes.
