The average monthly salaries of certain positions are tabulated, and personnel policies (civil service or merit system, retirement plan, vacation and sick leave, insurance, unionization, service awards, working hours and conditions, maintenance responsibility, lane miles, maintenance management system, crew operations) are briefly reviewed. Maintenance and operations personnel titles are defined. Maintenance and traffic operations personnel titles used by State Highway Departments are listed.
