Record URL: Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: The development, testing, building, and deployment of autonomous vehicles (AVs) continues at a rapid pace. These technologies will have a major impact on transportation safety and mobility, as well as the environment and urban forms. The introduction of these technologies also has the potential to disrupt the transportation system. The 2017 Automated Vehicle Symposium (AVS), held in San Francisco, California, on July11–13, 201, provided the opportunity for communication, collaboration, and information sharing on a wide range of topics, including potential public policy, safety and security, ethical, and equity concerns, as well as technology innovations and applications. The symposium was organized and conducted through a partnership between the Transportation Research Board (TRB) and the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI). This report presents the proceedings from the 2017 AVS. The symposium featured keynote speakers, presentations on current projects and programs, 25 concurrent breakout sessions, poster sessions, an enterprise solution series, and ancillary meetings. The report follows the general symposium agenda. The presentations by speakers in the general sessions are summarized, including the highlights from the 25 breakout sessions. A list of the posters presented in two sessions is provided. The appendices provide a description of the key topics covered in the breakout sessions.
