Title: Connected Vehicles: An Overview of the Past and Present Developments and Testbeds

Abstract: This paper provides a comprehensive review of recent developments in Connected Vehicle (CV) technology, its features and terminology, as well as involvement of different stakeholders. Given the technical and theoretical challenges, as well as novelty factors associated with the CVs, a number of pilot studies are underway around the world. Here, we report on the ongoing CV testbed projects and summarizes their findings. The paper contributes to the literature by drawing lessons from a multidisciplinary approach pertaining to the transportation policies, electrical engineering, and computer science.
