Abstract:

This issue contains fourteen papers concerned with marketing, fare policy and transformative data trend aspects of public transportation. Specific topics addressed in this issue include the following: inference of public transportation trip destinations; statistical inference of transit passenger boarding strategies; quantile regression analysis of transit travel time reliability; platform waiting time distribution; transit origin–destination matrices; potential transit ridership; transit trip itinerary inference; applications of inferred origins, destinations, and interchanges in bus service planning; and the impact of transit fare change on accessibility. Other topics addressed include; the relationship between customer perceptions and operational characteristics; estimating fare noninteraction and evasion; fare system of urban public transportation services in Davao City, Philippines; ideal and practical research design in a pilot social program; and the impact of integrated fare structures in decentralized metropolitan regions.
