Record URL: Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: This publication explores the international status of access management through the use of a survey of transportation researchers or professionals from nine countries: United States, South Africa, China, South Korea, Germany, Greece, Poland, Australia, and the United Kingdom. The report documents their understanding of access management practices in their country. Authors of each country report were asked to focus on critical issues of the concept and provide specific information (if existing) with regard to historical background; legal framework; roadway functional classification and access; access control schemes; land use and development regulation; enforcement schemes; policies and standards; traffic modes; and perspectives. The report provides many insights into the state of access management practice across the world. The report also reveals a clear need for greater international attention to access management and its application—particularly among agencies with an interest in international development and roadway safety.
