Abstract:
To recognize organizations that have excelled at communicating transportation needs and issues to targeted populations, the Transportation Research Board (TRB) Planning and Environment Group has hosted the “Communicating Concepts to John and Jane Q. Public” at the TRB Annual Meeting. At the 2016 competition, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI) received top honors for its Teens in the Driver Seat program, the first peer-to-peer program for teens that focuses on the leading cause of injury and death for this age group: car crashes. Other winning projects addressed multicultural engagement in Oregon, climate initiatives for school and youth outreach in the San Francisco Bay area, and outreach programs in Champaign, Illinois and Florida.
