Abstract:

This article looks at two ongoing matters of interest in the context of Open Skies agreements involving airlines not in one of the three global alliances (SkyTeam, Star, oneworld). At issue are labor standards practiced by Norwegian Air International Limited (NAI) and the expansion of subsidized state-owned Emirates, Etihad, and Qatar airlines. The author also briefly reviews Open Skies agreements and the formation of alliances.
