Accession Number: 01593771
Record Type: Component
Abstract: This paper is focus on how to evaluate the influence of chauffeured car, e.g. Uber and Kuaidi, to the taxi market. For this purpose, the study conducted an analysis of taxi GPS data set with 109 million records covering from April 2014 to June 2015 in Xiamen. The analysis reveals that the appearance of chauffeured cars doesn’t affect the taxi market in Xiamen. On the contrary, the chauffeured cars can complement the taxi market vacancy in peak hours. The spatial distribution of pick-up points shows that the demand of passengers are stable in weekday. Based on these findings, the paper provides insights into the temporal and spatial variation in Xiamen taxi market. Its findings can assist policymakers who regulate the taxi industry and chauffeured car service service.
