Title:

Understanding the Pharmaceutical Supply Chain: A Holistic Approach

Accession Number:

Abstract:

The pharmaceutical industry is changing dramatically and becoming more complex as new drugs are being introduced into the market every day. With an influx of vaccines, it is difficult for companies to manage the large amounts of raw materials and finished goods. With the ease of entry into the industry, criminal organizations and entrepreneurs have taken a vested interest into the manufacturing of counterfeit drugs turning huge profits and cutting into the legitimate business’s revenue. As firms seek to compete in today’s globalized economy, the approach to their supply chains must be holistic and seek to establish relationships, establish visibility and achieve high levels of quality in order to provide a safe product for the consumer.
