Abstract: Many cities around the world have developed public bicycle systems (PBSs) in recent years. Bicycle sharing programs not only provide rentals at different locations to provide more user flexibility, but also impact the environment positively. The purpose of this research is to evaluate user satisfaction of the PBS in Nanjing City, the capital of Jiangsu Province, China. It seeks to understand how public bicycle users perceive public bicycle services and which factors influence their level of satisfaction. Data comes from a random sample survey given from September to October 2014, at selected subway stations in Nanjing City. Data were analyzed using statistics, correlation, Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and regression methods. The results showed that users were unsatisfied with public bicycle service in Nanjing City. Using principal component analysis, four service dimensions that influenced users’ satisfaction were identified. The regression coefficients revealed that the “convenience of using the bicycle” component has the greatest impact on users’ overall satisfaction with the PBS, followed by “accessibility” and “facility condition” components. The additional factors component has the least impact on overall satisfaction.
