Abstract:

The articles in this issue of TR News address the rapid changes taking place in the U.S. transportation energy system. These changes include historic increases in fuel efficiency, expanded routes for transporting energy, and renewed domestic production of oil and natural gas. This introductory article explores these areas of change and considers the impact of sustainable transportation on the economic and social goals of the country.
