Abstract:

With the recent growth of the courier, express, and parcel (CEP) industry, the resultant increase in commercial vehicle movements has become a major issue. There is now a significant deal of pressure to improve delivery efficiency for the CEP sector. Despite the large number of studies on logistic collaboration, there has been neither definite analysis on how subjects are decided nor what benefits are generated. The objective of this study is to estimate the effect of logistic collaboration with a particular focus on apartment complexes. This study formulizes the CEP delivery behavior in last-mile networks, which have been divided into horizontal and vertical deliveries. The capacitated vehicle routing problem (CVRP) and micro-simulation are used for the description of horizontal and vertical deliveries, respectively. In addition to sensitivity analysis, spatial clustering, which groups spatial objects into classes, is applied to define subjects. The effect is estimated by comparing the difference in traveling distance and time with respect to logistic collaboration. In this paper, issues regarding the evaluation of logistic collaboration for sustainable urban logistics are discussed.
