The “Full Multi-Airport System” is defined as opposed to current Metroplex systems. Strategic and tactical organization is defined in the context of Metroplex operations and four possible levels of organization are identified. Consequently, the operational characteristics of Metroplex operations for the classification of each system are identified and analyzed. Examples from different Metroplex areas are given to describe each level of organization. The proposed framework is implemented to the case study of London and the results are validated by subject matter experts. Finally, suggestions are given for the optimization of operations in Metroplex.
