Performance models of urban streets over time are required for the life cycle assessment of pavement networks and their suitable management. Available models mostly have centered on modelling distresses common to interurban pavements at the project level. Given the complex scenario for municipalities and local agencies in charge of urban pavement maintenance and decision making, adaptable performance models that consider the combined effect of most relevant distresses in the overall urban paved network condition should therefore be developed. This study is part of a three year project being developed by the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, which aims to develop a Management System for Urban Pavement Networks. In previous phases of the project a condition index for asphalt and concrete urban pavements was developed. The objective of this study is to present the development of performance models of this urban pavement condition index based on probabilistic trends observed from field evaluations. Five street hierarchies and three climates were defined and characterized, resulting in a 5x3 factorial for each pavement type. Four field evaluation campaigns were developed in three regions of Chile in a three year analysis period for the calibration and validation of performance models. The probabilistic trend over time was analyzed using Markov chains for different climates and pavement types. Two final curves of urban pavement performance were developed and satisfactory validated.
