Record Type: Monograph
Availability: Transportation Research Board Business Office 500 Fifth Street, NW Find a library where document is available Abstract: This issue contains fourteen papers concerned with pavement management. The papers are organized into three parts. The first part addresses pavement monitoring and evaluation. Specific topics covered in this part include: subsurface joint deterioration; texture measurement systems; debonding conditions between hot-mix asphalt layers; pavement cracking detection; traffic speed deflectometer measurements; and a mobile cross-slope measurement method using lidar technology. Part 2 addresses full-scale accelerated pavement testing. Specific topics covered in this part include: evaluating the benefits of pavement research; three-dimensional finite element modeling of instrumented airport runway pavement response; and structural response of cracked pavements at a test track. Part 3 addresses rigid pavement design. Specific topics covered in this part include: cracking behavior of continuously reinforced concrete pavements; characteristics of base friction for concrete pavement structures; jointed plain concrete pavement mechanistic-empirical performance predictions; slab-foundation friction in jointed concrete pavements; and enhancements to the punchout prediction model in Mechanistic-Empirical Pavement Design Guide procedure.
