Abstract:
BORINGS WERE MADE BEFORE AND AFTER THE SETTLEMENT, WHICH HAD OCCURRED IN AN APPROACH FILL NEAR AN OVERPASS. SHEARING TESTS AND CONSOLIDATION TESTS MADE UNDER NORMAL LOADS REVEALED AN INCREASE IN SHEARING STRENGTH. STABILITY ANALYSES USING A SIMPLIFIED METHOD OF TERRACE LOADING AND THE MORE DETAILED SWEDISH METHOD OF CIRCULAR SLIDING SURFACES STRESSED THE VARIATIONS IN SHEARING STRENGTHS BEFORE AND AFTER THE FAILURE. AS A RESULT OF THE STABILITY ANALYSIS, REVISIONS WERE INTRODUCED WHICH IMPROVED THE STABILITY CONDITIONS.
