Abstract:

AN INTERPRETATION IS PRESENTED OF THE RELATIONS BETWEEN SOIL STABILIZATION & COLLOID SCIENCE. THE STRUCTURE OF CLAY MINERALS IS DISCUSSED SINCE COLLOID SCIENCE IS OF EXTREME IMPORTANCE FOR ANY WORK PERTAINING TO THE PROBLEM OF SOIL STABILIZATION. ON THE BASIS OF THE CLAY STRUCTURES, THE COLLOIDAL PROPERTIES OF CLAYS HAVE BEEN REFERRED TO WITH SPECIFIC ATTENTION TO THE PHENOMENON OF ION-EXCHANGE REACTIONS. BASED ON THIS INFORMATION, THE APPLICATION OF ACRYLIC RESIN EXCHANGES IS DISCUSSED AND THE PROBLEMS INVOLVED IN THE USE OF CALCIUM ACRYLATE ARE DESIGNATED.
