Accession Number:

Record Type:

Abstract:

Portland-limestone blended cements have been successfully used in Europe and other countries around the world for decades. This technology provides an opportunity for reducing the environmental footprint of our concrete infrastructure while providing desired strength and durability, the hallmark characteristics of concrete. This paper briefly defines portland-limestone cements, and reviews the history of use of these hydraulic cements, several key performance attributes, and then quantifies the potential impact their use can have on sustainability.

Supplemental Notes:

This paper was sponsored by TRB committee AFN40 Concrete Materials and Placement Techniques. The Table of Contents on the DVD lists the title of this paper as "Environmental Benefits of Portland-Limestone Blended Cements".
