Abstract:

SUMMARIZATION IS MADE OF SEVERAL EXPLORATORY STUDIES EMPLOYING DIFFERENT METHODS OF STUDYING THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN MEDIAN WIDTH OF HIGHWAYS AND THE DISABLING EFFECT OF OPPOSING MOTOR VEHICLE HEADLIGHT GLARE. INSIGHTS WERE SOUGHT INTO THE FACTORS WHICH WERE OPERATING AND THE METHODS WHICH WOULD BEST DETERMINE THOSE RELATIONSHIPS. BOTH LATERAL SEPARATION AND LONFITUDINAL DISTANCE BETWEEN GLARE VEHICLE AND OBSERVER WERE VARIED. SOME LIMITED MEASUREMENTS OF OF DISCOMFORT DUE TO GLARE WERE MADE
