Abstract:
THE PURPOSE WAS TO INVESTIGATE SOME STRUCTURAL PROBLEMS CONCERNING THE BEHAVIOR OF COLUMNS AND COMPRESSION MEMBERS. THESE AROSE IN CONNECTION WITH THE DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION OF THE CALCASIEU RIVER BRIDGE AT LAKE CHARLES, LOUISIANA, AND WERE CONSIDERED TO BE OF SUFFICIENT IMPROTANCE TO WARRANT A COMPREHENSIVE PROGRAM OF TESTS. /AUTHOR/
