Title: EVALUATION OF A NUCLEAR ASPHALT-CONTENT GAUGE
Accession Number: 00211786
Record Type: Component
Availability: Find a library where document is available Abstract: THE TROXLER ASPHALT-CONTENT GAUGE, MODEL 2226, WAS EVALUATED IN THE LABORATORY AND TAKEN INTO THE FIELD WHERE ITS RESULTS WERE COMPARED TO CONVENTIONAL REFLUX VALUES. THE PRECISION AS EVALUATED IN THE LABORATORY WAS FOUND TO BE EXCELLENT, EQUIVALENT TO 0.06 PERCENT ASPHALT WITH A 45-SEC COUNT. THE GAUGE HAS TO BE RECALIBRATED FOR DIFFERENT AGGREGATES AND, AS A PRACTICAL MATTER, SHOULD BE RECALIBRATED FOR DIFFERENT MIX TYPES. SAMPLE PREPARATION IS IMPORTANT, AND THE SAMPLES SHOULD BE AS UNIFORM AS POSSIBLE. THE ACCURACY APPEARS TO BE AS GOOD AS THAT OF THE REFLUX EXTRACTOR.
